More Information On This Vendor

Rocky Field Farm dates back to 1796, and the a 9th generation farmer owns the land and tends the cattle. The farm started with 50 acres and has grown to over 200 as neighboring farmers retired. Rocky Field switched from dairy to beef when the current owner took over in 1992. The farm is a family operation, with the occasional worker for a specific project.

Rocky Field prides themselves in using no added hormones and no antibiotics. They are Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) and Advanced Master Beef Producer certified. No herbicides or pesticides are used on their pastures, and they utilize regenerative agriculture practices like no till, cover cropping, rotational grazing, and bale grazing. Their pasture-raised cattle are specially finished with a 60-90 day ration of whole oats, cottonseed, corn, and alfalfa. In the next few years, they plan to add produce and figs to their farm.

Rocky Field Farm’s mission is simple: they aim to provide the best quality pasture-raised and grain-finished Angus beef possible. They guarantee never to use any type of added hormones or steroids. They guarantee no antibiotics in any animal processes for beef. They guarantee no preservatives, dyes, or fillers are ever used during the processing and packaging at the USDA-inspected processing plant.

“We believe in being kind and gentle with our cows, following animal welfare best practices as well as low impact handling techniques as prescribed by Dr. Temple Grandin. Farming is in my blood, and I feel called of God to do it. I feel more at peace and like I’m fulfilling my purpose in life when I’m on the land with my cattle than anywhere else on Earth. Buying local supports the local economy. Local products tend to be fresher, cleaner, and healthier for the consumer. In 2020 with the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve re-learned that we can get local foods at good prices in those uncertain times.” -Wayne Hughes, owner/operator
