SNAP & Double Up Food Bucks
SNAP stands for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, the program formerly known as food stamps.
Boone Street Market and the Jonesborough Farmers Market accept EBT/SNAP. At the Farmers Market, visit our information tent and use your EBT/SNAP card to purchase SNAP tokens to spend with vendors at the market on any SNAP-eligible foods or food-producing plants. At Boone Street Market, simply use your EBT/SNAP card at the register.
Double Up Food Bucks is a SNAP-doubling program offered at farmers markets and grocers across the country. Jonesborough Locally Grown offers DUFB at both of our markets. The benefit is provided in partnership with the Fair Food Network.
HOW IT WORKS AT THE FARMERS MARKET:
Customers bring their EBT card to the information booth at each market to swipe for tokens at their desired amount. These tokens can be spent on any SNAP-eligible foods at the market. The market will give the customer up to $20 per day in FREE tokens to be used on any fresh fruit or vegetable at the market. Get $10 in SNAP tokens, and you’ll get an additional $10. Swipe for $20, get $20! Tokens can be spent at any of the participating markets or farm stores.
HOW IT WORKS AT BOONE STREET MARKET:
At check-out, customers can use their EBT card for SNAP-eligible purchases. After paying, the store will give you up to $20 in matching DUFB tokens. The tokens can then be used on any fresh fruit or vegetable at the store or at participating farmers markets.
